CSUS Aquatic Center is a hidden treasure in the Sacramento area. It is located off Hazel, just north of Highway 80. The center has been at this location for 29 years. It offers classes all summer and has rowing and other activities for the community during the rest of the year. I was out kayaking last Tuesday and was rewarded with fabulous weather, great scenery and wild life. In addition to the Canadian geese, we saw egrets and herons. If you look closely at one of the picture above, you can see the giant heron nest. I wasn't even sure that I was photographing the large heron but it would seem so. People are not allowed in the nesting area except in the waters below the trees. The birds do not seem to be threatened by our presence on the lake. I would also like to mention that the center offers lessons in the use of canoes, wake boards, sailing, jet skiing, stand up paddling and water skiing. There are rowing teams and the teams compete agains 32 other centers around the world. The first picture is a competition held in June.
