Highway 267 to South Lake Tahoe

Donner Lake to South Lake Tahoe should be driven in a convertible.  I say should because you do have to look out for flying object and droppings.  We skirted the lake as we drove under beautiful Jeffrey pines and commented on the purple leaf plum trees. Homewood is where the movie, Godfather, was filmed but we only fantasized about touring the home.  Emerald Bay was a tempting stop with its hike to the waterfall and rock climbing.  Tahoe City is another funky stop that could keep you off the road and wandering a side path but we we focused and made it to South Lake Tahoe in time to have dinner at the Beacon Bar and Grill in Camp Richardson.  Sitting outside on the deck gives you a view of the sunset and is a great people watching opportunity.  There are also Canadian geese, kids, dogs (leashed?) and the evening strollers.  We walked out on the dock and chatted with the boaters and people out to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
